🎓 AUST 12th Convocation: A Dream Fulfilled

10:00 AM – Arrival at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center, Purbachal
Graduates, faculty members, and proud families began to arrive with excitement and joy radiating from every face. The air was filled with camera clicks, laughter, nervous smiles—and silent prayers of parents who had given everything to see this day.
10:30 AM – Rehearsal of the Ceremony begins
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Science and Technology, presided over the ceremony on behalf of the Chancellor of AUST and the Hon’ble President of Bangladesh. He formally conferred graduate and postgraduate degrees on 9,426 students across various disciplines.

“We want you to be more than just professionals. Be human, patriotic, and conscious citizens. Be a light for others,” he told us.

Speech by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Ashraful Hoque applauded the perseverance and achievements of the graduates.

“Stay humble in success, learn from failure, and lead with compassion. Our students shine globally, and I believe you will continue that legacy.”

In a Convocation Speech by Professor Dr Ainun Nishat one of Bangladesh’s most respected voices in water resource management and climate change, he urged graduates:
In his address, he said:
“Find purpose in your profession. Use your knowledge not just for self-gain, but to uplift society. Be part of the solution.”

As a proud civil engineering graduate, I received my certificate from Dr Md Shahid Mamun, Head of the Civil Engineering Department. That walk across the stage? It wasn’t just mine—it was my mother’s.

💖 A Tribute Beyond Words

দিনটা আমার জীবনের সবচেয়ে কাঙ্ক্ষিত দিনগুলোর একটি।

কিন্তু যাঁর জন্য দিনটার এই অর্থবহ হয়ে উঠেছে, তাঁকে নিয়ে কিছু না বললে সেটা শুধু অন্যায় নয়, বরং তাঁর অবর্ণনীয় কষ্ট আর ত্যাগের প্রতি অবহেলা হয়ে যাবে।

ছবির মানুষটি—আমার মা। মা না থাকলে, হয়তো এই কনভোকেশন নামক দিনটাই আসতো না আমার জীবনে।

“ছোট ছোট বালুকণা…”—এই প্রবাদটা যেন মায়ের জন্যই লেখা।

যখন সবাই বলেছিল, প্রাইভেট ভার্সিটিতে ছেলেকে শেষ অবধি পড়াতে পারবে না, তখন তিনি লড়ে গেছেন।দুইবার ক্যান্সারের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করে, সংসারের খরচ বাঁচিয়ে, নিজের সব স্বপ্ন বিসর্জন দিয়ে আমার পড়াশোনার জন্য টাকা জমিয়েছেন।আজ আমি যদি কিছু হতে পেরে থাকি, সেটা পুরোপুরি আমার মায়ের অবদান।বাবা মারা যাওয়ার পর মা আমাদের আগলে রেখেছেন, কখনো বাবার অভাব বুঝতে দেননি।মা কখনোই কোনো কিছুর জন্য ক্রেডিট চাননি, বরং ছায়ার মতো থেকেছেন।

তাই এই অর্জন, এই গর্বের মুহূর্ত—আমি আমার মাকে উৎসর্গ করছি।

মা, তুমি ছাড়া কিছুই হতো না। তুমি আছো বলেই আমি আছি।
